Every time you hit the snooze button, you’re in a state of resistance to your day, to your life, and to waking up and creating the life you say you want. When you delay waking up until you have to - meaning you wait until the last possible moment to get out of bed and start your day - consider that what you’re actually doing is resisting your life. Stop snoozing.The old saying, “you snooze, you lose” may have a much deeper meaning than any of us has ever realized. Your competition might move faster when they meet that same outstanding candidate. Don’t risk losing a future top-performer so you can feel like you did your diligence by meeting another additional comparison candidates. If you identify an impressive candidate who has the skills and the personality to fit your culture -HIRE them. In this job market, it is imperative that employers make the time to adequately complete the interview process. Unfortunately though, the perception created in the candidates mind is that they are not the hiring manager’s first choice. I’m guessing they offered it to someone else, and if they turn it down they will make me an offer.” Often times this isn’t the case at all, the hiring manager has just been too busy to complete the interview process. When an employer draws out the interview process we frequently hear from our candidates “I’m assuming that I’m the second choice because I have had multiple meetings and I have not received an offer. One of my candidates waited two months for a company to decide to hire her, she ended up receiving an offer from another organization in under a week following her first interview! From a candidate perspective, which company made a better impression? Obviously, the company that was excited to quickly make you an offer! After speaking in depth about the situation, both companies had a lot to offer but her decision was a result of feeling valued and wanting to work for a decisive leader. Have you considered what message that sends to prospective candidates? Do you want them to feel sought after and valued? I’ve recently seen interview processes that have lasted over 6 months. Candidates want to know you want them to join your team. Long interview processes need to be a thing of the past. If your company finds it is losing candidates after the interview phase, get together and figure out what you need to do to attract top talent. The interview experience has a major impact on talent’s final decision to join your company. Is your PTO keeping up with your competitors?
